We often receive questions about whether our single-use foot care tools can be sterilized in an autoclave.
The short answer: Yes, they can be autoclaved—but doing so is not recommended.
Single-use tools are made from lower-grade stainless steel than our reusable, autoclavable instruments. While they can physically withstand autoclaving, repeated sterilization may cause their cutting edges to dull quickly and increase the risk of rust. Most importantly, these tools are designed for one-time use only. Reusing them goes against manufacturer guidelines and is discouraged in clinical settings.
If you need tools for repeated use, we strongly recommend choosing our premium, autoclavable options designed specifically for long-term durability and consistent performance.
Canadian Sterilization Guidelines:
If you do choose to sterilize your tools, follow validated steam autoclave cycles as recommended by Canadian best practices:
PreVacuum Steam (preferred): 134°C for 18 minutes
Gravity Steam (standard autoclaves): 121°C for 30 minutes
After sterilization:
Ensure tools are dried completely to prevent rust
Store in a clean, dry, sterile environment
For optimal safety, always follow proper sterilization protocols and choose the right tools for your needs.
